How to use 300 DPI Size Chart

Find your target print size in the left column of the chart and read the pixel dimensions in the row across. Open your image in Photoshop, Affinity Photo, or your drawing app and check Image Size — if the pixel count meets or exceeds the chart values, your file can print at that size without visible quality loss at 300 DPI.

If your pixel count falls short, you have two choices: reduce the print size to one that your file's pixels can support, or return to the source file and increase the canvas resolution before re-exporting. Do not simply upscale the image to reach the target pixel count — interpolating pixels from a smaller file makes detail soft and is visible in print.

Use 300 DPI as your standard for art prints, photo prints, and any product viewed at close range. Large format prints like posters and banners can often use 150 DPI because viewers stand farther away, but check the printing lab's own specification first — requirements vary between suppliers.
